Profile follows Amy Whittaker, a British journalist who wants to expose how ISIS recruits young women online. She creates a fake Facebook account for Melody, a young woman who has recently converted to Islam. An ISIS recruiter named Bilel starts a romantic chat with Melody and tries to bring her to Syria. Amy becomes caught between her job, her real relationship, and the bond she has built on screen. The movie stays inside her computer and phone, creating a tense story about messages, video calls, and hidden danger.
The film's main identity-related focus comes from Amy pretending to be a young Muslim convert and studying how women are targeted by extremist recruiters. Bilel talks about rejection and discrimination in Britain, while Amy first mistrusts a Syrian computer worker because of his background. The story treats these points as parts of extremist recruitment and online manipulation, not as a broad lesson about modern race or gender politics. Amy is brave, but she is also careless and emotionally pulled into the trap. The film's strongest message is that online attention, loneliness, and anger can turn into a dangerous false relationship.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Profile.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. Amy is a white British journalist, her boss is a black British woman, and her tech helper is Syrian. Those choices fit a modern London setting, and the film does not present them as a diversity message.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Bilel says that life in Britain brought him failure and discrimination. Amy first asks for another technician because Lou has a Syrian background. Lou later condemns ISIS and challenges that fear. These identity-related lines appear in a short part of the thriller and do not become a repeated political speech.
28%
Identity-driven story themes
Amy's investigation centers on young European women who are drawn into ISIS recruitment. Amy uses a young female convert identity to learn how the recruiter sells romance and safety. The story also shows a woman facing trafficking and then publishing a warning for other women. The film treats this as a terrorism and manipulation story, not a wider message about gender politics.
16%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The film shows ISIS control and abuse, but it does not turn that conflict into a critique of Western family, religious, or social institutions.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The film fictionalizes a real journalist's name and nationality, but it does not make a race, gender, sexuality, or hero-role swap.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The supplied X pass found no anti-woke reaction or named complaint. Other reviews and audience posts focused on the screen format, Amy's choices, and whether the romance was believable, not on DEI or identity politics.

Creator track record context
Bekmambetov's cached score is low, and his work here is mainly a screenlife terrorist thriller. Kharina and Érelle have little public activist context, while Poulton has a moderate record tied to gender pressure, faith, and outsiders. The listed producers also have low cached scores. The overall creator context is a small supporting signal.
