A robot named Roz crashes on an island and learns how to survive by making friends with the local animals. She adopts an orphaned baby goose and works hard to raise him. A mild environmental theme is visible, showing how advanced human technology can clash with the natural world. This theme stays mostly in the background of the heartwarming story.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for The Wild Robot.
Woke representation / casting
The voice cast is diverse, featuring actors like Lupita Nyong'o and Pedro Pascal. However, because they only voice a robot and various wild animals, this diversity is entirely incidental. There is no audience-visible identity signaling, and the casting does not feel forced or mismatched.
5%
Woke political dialogue
The movie contains virtually no political dialogue or modern activist phrasing. The script focuses on basic survival, learning to live in nature, and the bonds of family.

Identity-driven story themes
While the story deals with a robot who is an outsider trying to fit in, this is told as a timeless story of a mother and her child. Some activist viewers tried to label it as a queer found-family story, but this is a personal projection that is not in the actual film.
10%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The story shows high-tech humans as cold and sterile, while nature is shown as vibrant and organic. However, there is no modern activist critique of Western culture, capitalism, whiteness, or traditional gender roles.
10%
Woke character or canon changes
Not present in this title.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
There is almost zero anti-woke backlash. Major conservative and Christian movie review sites praised the film as a highly traditional story about motherhood and sacrifice.
0%
Creator track record context
The creative team mostly has a clean track record. Chris Sanders has a low woke score of 15, while author Peter Brown has a score of 45 due to a previous children's book on gender expression. This context has no visible impact on the movie itself.
