Puss in Boots has used eight of his nine lives when Death begins hunting him. He leaves his old life behind and searches for a magical star that can grant one wish. Kitty Softpaws and Perrito join him on the journey. Goldilocks and the Three Bears also chase the star, while Jack Horner wants its power for himself. The film mixes fairy-tale comedy, action, fear, and emotional moments. The story focuses on mortality, anxiety, friendship, family, and learning to value the present. Puss must accept that he cannot escape death or live forever. Goldilocks learns that her adoptive bear family already gives her the home she wants. Perrito helps Puss during a panic attack through kindness and calm support. The film does not build its story around modern identity politics or activist ideas.
