Joel McHale

Personal context

Summary

Joel McHale is an actor and comedian known for hosting The Soup and playing Jeff Winger on Community, with later roles in Animal Control and The Bear. His public work is chiefly comedy, celebrity satire, and ensemble television. In 2016, he donated the profits from a Durham, North Carolina performance to the LGBTQ Center of Durham in protest of the state’s anti-LGBT law. He also appeared in a Community cast video supporting the Biden-Harris 2020 campaign; no public record of recurring DEI or identity-focused statements about his own work is evident.
